He has served for over a decade on the board of the Brooklyn-based Gowanus Canal Conservancy and is an active member of Bellport Bay Yacht Club on Long Island.

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Winfield is a graduate of the Haslam School of Business at the University of Tennessee.
