Joe Smurdon

Current responsibilities
As co-lead of the Seattle-based Data Center Team Mr. Smurdon is responsible for driving strategic solutions for several of the firm’s top data center clients on a global basis.

Experience
Mr. Smurdon has over 35 years of real estate experience in brokerage, site selection, mergers & acquisitions, valuation, marketing, and strategic consulting related services for leading technology companies around the world. He joined JLL in 2012 and managed the firm’s consulting practice including site selection and the data center practice group reporting directly to the CEO. He then was then elevated to Managing Director of Marketing and Business Development for the Americas reporting directly to the CEO and provided strategic direction and leadership to Brokerage, Capital Markets, Property Management, and Project Development Services.

Prior to joining JLL, Mr. Smurdon was an Executive Managing Director with Cushman & Wakefield for 19 years, where he served on the global management team of the Valuation & Advisory practice.

Significant Accomplishments
2017 JLL Region of the Year – Awarded to JLL region with highest percentage of top broker performance, culture and year over year revenue and profit improvement

Region Turnaround – Since taking over the Pacific NW Region in late 2015, he has increased revenue by 500% and in a 3 year period and completed three large company acquisitions and established JLL as the top firm in the region.

Improved Broker Productivity – Initiated Business Accelerator platform at JLL and led the development of technology tools, industry practice groups and business development strategies and resources to significantly improve broker productivity across the Americas.

He formerly served on several teams and committees within JLL to help drive the strategic direction of the firm including:

· Western Region Executive Committee

· Brokerage Leadership Committee

· Occupier Leadership Team

· JLL National Possibility Leadership Committee

Education, Affiliations, and Board Positions
Mr. Smurdon holds a Bachelor of Science Degree - Real Estate & Finance from Marylhurst University and is a Licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of Washington. Past Board positions included: Board Member, Seattle Sports Commission and Board Member, Commercial Brokers Association. He also served as the President of the Sherwood Youth Soccer Organization for 5 years and a youth chess coach for 16 years with the Chess for Success Organization. He also currently serves as a Board Member of the Aspenwood HOA in Ketchum, ID.
