The Announcement
PITTSBURGH, September 16, 2026 — JLL today announced the relocation of Sherrard, German & Kelly, P.C. (SGK) to the 16th floor of Fifth Avenue Place, more than 20,000 square feet in an iconic downtown trophy building at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Liberty Avenue. The firm is expected to occupy the space in Spring 2027.
JLL’s Executive Managing Director Dan Adamski, Senior Managing Director Nick Francic and Executive Vice President Reid Mauro from JLL’s Pittsburgh Law Firm Practice Group represented SGK in the transaction.
Fifth Avenue Place is one of downtown Pittsburgh's most recognizable buildings. Ownership continues to invest in it, including a $20 million glass-fronted lobby renovation alongside expanded retail space. The tower offers sweeping city views, on-site access to a fitness center and a growing set of dining options.
“A firm's office says a lot about how it sees itself. For us, that meant establishing a central city location, and we are excited to move into a building that mirrors the high standard of leading-edge legal work that our team delivers to our clients,” said Eric Springer, Co-Managing Shareholder and Director - President at SGK.
"For law firms, the office has become as much a business decision as a real estate one," said Adamski. "Trophy buildings like Fifth Avenue Place are capturing the firms that are trading up, drawn by amenities and quality that older buildings often can't match."
SGK's move reflects broader trends in the Pittsburgh legal market. JLL's Pittsburgh law firm benchmarking study finds local firms average 777 square feet per attorney, ahead of the national benchmark of 675 square feet, with most not planning to meaningfully downsize over the next five years. Rather than cutting space, firms are reconsidering how they use it. Amenities have become a business tool, with food, social space and on-site programming now top investment priorities.
