Twenty years ago, Slate Asset Management (“Slate”) was founded with a focus on buying the right assets at the right basis and executing proactive management initiatives to maximize value. What started as a handful of professionals managing a small portfolio of office buildings in Toronto has grown to a specialized team of nearly 120 managing over 600 assets across Canada, the US, and Europe. It also acts as the firm’s main way of sharing information with lenders, auditors, and investors globally.
JLL Asset Beacon has become Slate’s single source of truth for their entire portfolio and is used regularly by individuals across a variety of functions. Slate has over 600 assets uploaded to the platform today, providing the team with thousands of data points used to drive integral decision making and underpin its investor reporting. It is the first thing many employees open when they get to their desk, and its reports are leveraged on a daily basis when executing upon key strategic initiatives. Not having to switch between systems for leasing, operating, and financial data and having confidence that the data is correct saves employees countless hours, and has allowed Slate to scale its team quickly and efficiently as the firm has grown.
