The focus on climate change and decarbonisation has accelerated following revisions to government policy, however the industrial and logistics sector has been traditionally slow to transition. In recent months, developers and occupiers particularly those who have Scope 3 within their net zero targets have begun to recognise the need to act.
JLL have identified 53% of Australia's top 100 industrial and logistics occupiers have net zero targets which vary in commitment but will be driven by date deadlines through to 2050 and new legislation standards. This report assess' the current footprints of major industrial occupiers and proposed pathways to reach committed targets alongside existing climate regulatory framework, consumer consciousness, biodiversity and social factors.
It details the complexity associated with the decarbonisation of Scope 3 which includes occupier supply chains and highlights the opportunities for Australia's industrial asset owners to gain from potential green premiums in asset values and rents.
