Nashunda Williams
Who is a female inspiration/role model to you and why?
I get inspired by women that push past fear and doubt. Melissa Butler is the founder and CEO of the Lip Bar, an ethnic all-natural makeup line. Melissa went on Shark Tank and received negative feedback from all of the investors. Instead of losing self-confidence in her dream, Melissa persisted and was determined to succeed. Melissa sent Target a blind email about her product and eventually her line was picked up and is now in 450 stores. I’m inspired by her tenacity.
Why does inclusion matter to you?
Inclusion is the nucleus of diversity. When a person feels they are in an inclusive environment, their creativity, motivation, and drive comes alive. Inclusion matters to me as we all deserve to feel that our diverse voices can be heard and respected.
How are you inspiring women to achieve their ambitions at JLL?
I lead through example and take on the philosophy that every voice matters. Every story deserves to be heard, and I try to make time to listen without distraction. I also believe that every time I step out of my comfort zone, it inspires others to do the same, so I set goals that center around being uncomfortable and pushing past my own fears.
