Innovative workspace and business growth come with the Territory for expanding team

DARWIN – JLL has officially opened its newest Australian office in Darwin to expand a growing team and consolidate the global firm’s operations in the Northern Territory.

JLL first established a presence in Darwin in 2008 under the former valuations business Propell, which JLL acquired in 2015. The team has since grown to almost 20, prompting the recent move from the former JLL office in Cullen Bay to new premises in Berrimah.

The fit-out of the 180sqm office at Darwin Corporate Park is JLL’s activity-based working (ABW) model, WorkSmart, which incorporates enhanced mobility and flexibility through multiple activity settings and work locations. 

This includes non-assigned desks, discussion hubs and areas designed for quiet working.

The JLL teams which make up the Darwin office include Project Management, Integrated Facilities Management (IFM), Property Management and Valuations and Advisory Services.

The JLL business is involved with multiple major NT projects, including:

• Management of Defence projects throughout the Territory and the new Gateway Shopping Centre in Yarrawonga. JLL is one of the largest property managers in Australia, with close to 1270 properties under management, including approximately 300 shopping centres.
• Project-managing the construction of a new luxury hotel in Darwin scheduled to open in 2022 – one of the biggest projects of its kind in Australia at the moment.

Founded in the UK more than 200 years ago, JLL opened its first office outside London in Sydney in 1958, starting its path of becoming a global business and Australia’s largest commercial property firm.

JLL’s Chief Executive Officer – Australia Stephen Conry said: “Our new Darwin office represents a new era for JLL in the Northern Territory. We’ve been present in the Territory for more than a decade and have been steadily expanding our operations since.

A big part of our operation in Australia is serving the Federal Government locally and internationally through our property and facilities management businesses, our advisory and consulting expertise and our project management skills.”

JLL’s Managing Director, Mortgage Services – Australia Bart Mead said: “We have seen a sustained increase in our company-wide head count in the NT over the past 12 months, which has led to this office opening.
