JLL appoints Matthew Egan as Head of Capital Markets, Victoria
Melbourne, 22 July 2026 - JLL today announced the appointment of Matthew Egan as Head of Capital Markets, Victoria. Egan joins JLL from Aravest Australia, where he was Chief Executive Officer, and will lead JLL's Capital Markets business across Victoria.
Egan is a senior institutional real estate executive with 20 years' experience spanning private equity real estate, private debt, capital markets, investment management, banking and valuations.
Most recently he was Chief Executive Officer of Aravest Australia, formerly ARA Australia, which he joined as a founding member in 2016. Over the following decade he helped establish and grow the Australian business to approximately $3 billion in assets under management across office, logistics and private credit strategies. In 2024, ARA Australia was acquired by two significant Japanese investors, and Egan led the establishment of Aravest Australia, with its new owners and Japanese capital partners.
“Matthew is one of the most credentialled capital markets executives in the region. Appointing someone who has run an investment platform at chief executive level materially bolsters JLL’s national Capital Markets leadership team and capability,” said Luke Billiau, Head of Capital Markets, Australia and New Zealand, JLL. “He brings an acute understanding of how institutional capital thinks about office and broader investment opportunities, and his relationships across Asia, particularly Japan, are exactly the connections our clients need at this point in the cycle.”
Across his tenure at Aravest Australia, Egan led deal origination and acquisitions, capital raising and fund formation, and the development of asset strategies and investment products. He brings an acute understanding of how institutional capital approaches office and broader investment opportunities, developed through raising, deploying and managing capital on behalf of pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and private capital partners. He has built long-standing relationships with institutional investors across Asia, including in Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan - a market that has been among the most active offshore investors in Australian real estate.
“JLL has an outstanding platform and genuine depth of talent nationally and regionally, and I am looking forward to helping our clients navigate what is shaping up to be an active period for capital,” said Matthew Egan, Head of Capital Markets, Victoria, JLL. “There is real momentum returning to the office market. With offshore capital, particularly out of Japan, increasingly focused on Australia, there is a significant opportunity to connect that capital with the right assets.”
Egan commences in the role in September and will be based in Melbourne.
