The challenge: translating a global brand for a local market
After years operating from serviced offices, Pinterest was ready to establish a permanent Australian workspace, a home that would reflect the platform's mission to inspire people to create a life they love.
Pinterest needed its of commercial space at 2 Park Street with its four terraces offering 360-degree city views to incorporate a workspace that embodied its culture of design excellence and innovation. But translating a US-based global brand's technical standards into a fully compliant Australian fit-out wasn't straightforward. It required careful coordination across international design intent and local regulatory requirements, without compromising what made the design distinctly Pinterest.
Pinterest needed a partner that could navigate that complexity. It engaged JLL.
How we approached it: building trust through presence and partnership
We started by protecting the vision before construction began
JLL's Tenant Representation team joined during lease negotiations to conduct technical reviews and safeguard project outcomes early. We secured early site access for design coordination and embedded clear base building responsibilities into lease terms, including landlord commitments for full bathroom upgrades and complete terrace refurbishments with new pavers and waterproofing.
We also structured handover and lease commencement dates with built-in delays if the landlord failed to meet its obligations. That meant a smooth handover of a vacant, ready-to-go space with no delays before construction started.
We worked inside Pinterest's world, not outside it
Rather than imposing our own systems, our Project and Development Services team adopted Pinterest's global project management platform from day one. We worked directly with Pinterest's internal real estate, design and construction and technology teams across time zones to establish clear objectives and stay aligned throughout delivery. Their processes became our processes.
We translated global standards without losing what mattered
Pinterest's global standard requires all data and electrical cabling to be enclosed within conduits, standard practice in the US but uncommon here. To deliver this, we documented the requirement clearly, priced it during tender and coordinated closely between electrical engineers, builders and certifiers to ensure it was executed exactly as specified on-site. Pinterest's technical standards were delivered in full compliance with Australian regulations.
The terraces were central to the brief. We navigated complex authority approval processes and engaged dedicated landscape designers to integrate indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly, creating flexible settings for employees to do their work, for hospitality and events, and client engagement.
What we delivered: a workspace that feels like Pinterest
By June 2025, JLL had delivered Pinterest's new Sydney office, a bespoke workspace that captured the brand's creative identity while embracing local design sensibility.
The fit-out includes flexible work points and dedicated areas for employee and client experiences. The four terraces provide distinctive settings for events, supporting how Pinterest engages with clients and teams.
What the client said
Tiffany Tam, Design and Construction Project Manager at Pinterest, reflected on the partnership:
"JLL served as trusted partners on this project. Their consistent communication, collaborative approach and dependability made this one of the most successful project deliveries I have been part of."
What it means for us
Pinterest's subsequent appointment of JLL to deliver its new London office validates the strength of this delivery. It reinforces our reputation as a trusted global partner, capable of consistent delivery, adaptability and collaboration across regions to turn vision into reality.
