JLL finds new owner for iconic Unigro site in Sint-Niklaas

Brussels, 20th February 2024 – The iconic site of former webshop Unigro in Sint-Niklaas has been sold. JLL, which supervised the sale on behalf of the Otto Group (Saint-Brice/Unigro), found the right buyer in Alinso Group, the real estate company of the Jan De Clerck family.
Until recently, the site along the Prins Boudewijnlaan (N70) was home to Unigro, a Belgian online store that was founded in 1948 and has been part of the German Otto Group since 2014.
In June 2023, the management of Saint-Brice NV, the operational company behind Unigro, confirmed the termination of Unigro's business activities in Belgium and Luxembourg.
In September 2023, JLL was mandated to find a buyer for the industrial site of about 5 hectares. The building comprises 24,000 m² of warehouse space, 4,650 m² of office space and 7 commercial units. Until recently, the warehouse and office space were used by Unigro itself. The commercial units are home to tenants such as Basic-Fit, Belisol, Midas, etc. Despite the challenging real estate market, several potential buyers presented themselves. JLL points to the exceptional size of the total plot, the commercial location along the Prins Boudewijnlaan (N70) and the future access via the Eastern tangent as the main reasons for the great interest.
After a structured bidding process, Alinso Group emerged as the overall winner. Alinso Group will temporarily lease the existing buildings pending a final redevelopment.
