A design manager's journey across continents and challenging projects
When Menna Yackoub joined JLL, she was drawn by the company's reputation for professionalism and a friendly atmosphere. What she's experienced since has exceeded those expectations, particularly after her recent transfer from JLL's Egypt team to Dubai.
As a Design Manager with Project & Development Services in the UAE, Menna oversees design-related tasks on construction projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams to ensure everything is delivered on time, within budget, and to the desired quality. It's a role that demands precision, creativity, and the ability to manage complexity—skills she's honed through some truly memorable challenges.
One project stands out vividly: a corporate fit-out in Egypt spanning 2,800 square metres across two floors. "It was an exceptionally challenging project due to its complex and high specification design requirements, which were subject to constant changes," Menna recalls. The project involved stakeholders from two distinct regions with varying time zones, and it was fast-tracked with a demanding timeline of under six months—half the typical duration for a project of that magnitude.
"Despite these obstacles, we were able to deliver it to the client on time, on budget, and to the required standards. It was an exhilarating experience that showcased our team's ability to perform under pressure and deliver exceptional results."
For Menna, what truly sets JLL apart is its commitment to supporting creativity, embracing diversity, and maintaining an open culture. "This unique mix has created an environment where innovation flourishes, different perspectives are valued, and collaboration thrives."
Her transfer to Dubai has only reinforced her belief in JLL's collaborative environment. Working alongside diverse and talented teams has allowed her to grow both personally and professionally whilst contributing to the company's objectives.
"I definitely see a brighter way at JLL," Menna reflects, "and I am excited to contribute to both the company's goals and my own personal aspirations."
