What inspired you to choose a career in sustainability?
For me, the flooding, fires, and climate extremes that we've been witnessing more visibly in recent times all around the world have really exposed me to the pace and scale of human-induced climate change. Now I’m working in the real estate industry, I've recognised that the sector accounts for a huge proportion of global emissions. And so, through my work in sustainability, I really want to drive urgent climate action for everyone, everywhere.
How are you helping to make real estate more sustainable?
At JLL, there's a real recognition that we are in an industry which is a big part of the climate change problem, and so we need to be a big part of the solution. With that thinking, JLL gave me the opportunity to work for the United Nations and World Economic Forum to help companies make net-zero carbon commitments and then deliver on them. I’m now using that knowledge to champion and embed sustainability throughout JLL and our client organizations.
What does a sustainable future look like to you?
A sustainable future is one where the Sustainable Development Goals are being met. We build back better and establish an equitable and green recovery that sparks job creation and growth.
