Heriot-Watt University Dubai needed a larger campus to accommodate their growing number of students. There was clear vision for this project - to create an environment that was futuristic, that would provide a myriad of learning experiences, and replicate future spaces in which students may work, after graduation. It was also a priority that the new campus was digitally enabled, and would meet the university’s sustainability goals.

JLL partnered with Heriot-Watt from the project’s initial stages, right through to completion. JLL brought an integrated team together - beginning with the strategic consulting team who worked on the “stay versus go” analysis which informed the agency team in finding and securing the location in Knowledge Park. Then came project management and cost management of the design and construction of the fit-out. As well as input into asset and facilities management and sustainability services, to advise and secure LEED certification. Having one partner across everything ensured a cohesive and integrated approach, maximizing project success and minimizing risks.

The Heriot-Watt University campus in Dubai is a world-class, future-facing example of what an educational space can be. Starting with a black canvas and putting the people who would use the environment - staff, academics, and students – at the heart of thinking about what the campus could be. An environment and story has been created, that is about so much more than the bricks and mortar - creating a space that truly inspires learning, day in and out. And, perhaps even more importantly, creating authentic experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.
