JLL Canada announces the recipients of the first JLL Award for Indigenous Students at UBC Sauder
TORONTO, July 04, 2022 – Launching its inaugural JLL Award for Indigenous Students, JLL Canada is proud to announce that it has entered into a five-year partnership with the UBC Sauder School of Business, thereby encouraging and supporting Indigenous students wishing to pursue commercial real estate careers. The award assists in removing financial barriers for students, providing opportunities and increasing diversity in the industry.
Each of the recipients listed below demonstrated good academic standing, leadership and involvement in their communities as selected by UBC.
Andrew Metcalfe

Being a Métis student specializing in finance and real estate, it is a blessing to receive an award which stands to recognize strong academic standing and the importance of emerging Indigenous students into the Real Estate industry.”
Eric Surette
“I am honoured to have been awarded the JLL Award for Indigenous Students. It is inspiring to see companies making and acting on their commitment to supporting Indigenous students in business. This award has affirmed my confidence surrounding the direction of my studies and motivated me to focus even harder to leverage those studies into a successful career. Weston Zawada
“I am incredibly humbled and honoured to be the first recipient of the JLL award for Indigenous students. Real Estate is important to Aboriginal communities, and I look forward to contributing to future Real Estate related economic development. I am currently working as an intern at a real estate-centric cryptocurrency on the blockchain. I have a keen interest in innovations in real estate and am proud to be a part of the growing Indigenous participation in this space. I am grateful for JLL’s involvement and support for the Indigenous community and look forward to continuing to develop in this industry.”
