CBC Bank's new sustainable workpace with support from JLL & Tétris Design and Build
The financial industry is undergoing a significant transformation, with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors becoming increasingly important. Companies recognize the need to align their real estate strategies with their sustainability goals.
CBC, a prominent national bank in Belgium, understood this shift and sought to expand its presence in Brussels area while reinforcing its commitment to sustainability
Finding the right building in the right location
The challenge was to find a location near Brussels city center that not only met the bank's operational needs but also aligned with its ESG strategy and brand image as a sustainable provider for premium clients. CBC needed a certified building in a well-connected area, a requirement that demanded a forward-thinking approach to real estate.
Integrating leasing expertise with innovative design
JLL stepped in to help CBC navigate this challenge, leveraging its expertise in leasing office agency and integrated design and build services. JLL's unique approach combined market knowledge with a deep understanding of CBC's values and goals.
The JLL office agency team identified Wood Hub, a 7,300 sqm office building that exemplifies sustainable and innovative construction, as the ideal location for CBC.
Tétris then translated CBC's vision into reality by creating an innovative workspace that embodies the bank's digital and human DNA.
This OneJLL approach ensured a seamless integration of leasing and design, resulting in a space that truly reflects CBC's identity.
Wood Hub and the biotope concept
Wood Hub features a hybrid prefabricated CREE® structure made of wood and concrete, smart energy management without fossil fuels, and is targeting BREEAM® Outstanding and WELL® Building Standard Platinum certifications.
Tétris designed a multifunctional socialization area to promote collaboration, along with a coffee corner, reception areas, and co-working spaces. The "Biotope concept" offers ergonomic workspaces adapted to daily needs. Each employee is close to various ergonomic setups for focused work, phone calls, or dynamic meetings. The design team also used the exceptional 45 cm raised floor to create a sunken lounge area: employees go down 2 steps to reach the ground level surrounded by plants: a cozy space for informal meetings.
The design also incorporated biophilic principles, focusing on acoustic comfort and using natural materials and plant islands to create an environment conducive to well-being.
A sustainable, people-centric workspace
“This project exemplifies the evolving demands of tenants in Belgium, showcasing a move towards sustainable, people-centric workspaces that prioritize well-being and environmental responsibility." Concludes Christophe Golenvaux, Head of Office Agency Brussels, Wallonia & Luxembourg
Thanks to its collaboration with JLL and Tétris, CBC successfully secured a modern and sustainable office building that meets its needs and reflects its commitment and values.
The new workspace fosters productivity, well-being, and a sense of community for employees, reinforcing CBC's attractiveness as an employer of choice
