The greater San Antonio area’s unemployment rate is a low 6.5%, with an annual job growth rate of 2.4%. The fastest growing job sectors are in mining and lodging related to the recent boom in the Eagle Ford Shale region. The City is home to fifteen higher learning institutions, and two of the largest military medical centers in the United States. Several military bases are located here, home to both the Army and Air Force service members, adding to the diversity of the city.

San Antonio is a popular tourist destination offering varied historic, cultural, amusement and sporting attractions. The City provides a rich cultural experience to residents and guests offering a review of Texas history while visiting The Alamo Mission, or a unique river excursion through heart of the city on the Riverwalk. San Antonio showcases many festivals throughout the year from lively Mexican-American folklore, to Spanish heritage and Texas pride. Sports fan may attend a basketball game for the NBA championship winning San Antonio Spurs or the WNBA’s the Silver Stars, or play a round of golf at the AT&T Canyons Course where the PGA’s annual Valero Texas Open is played.
